2026 Chicago Festival of Gold Performance Trip

In April 2026, Ivy Chamber Strings traveled to Chicago to perform at the renowned Orchestra Hall at Chicago Symphony Center as part of the WorldStrides Festival of Gold. This invitation marked another important milestone in ICS’s artistic journey, following the ensemble’s continued success at national and international festivals.
Performing in one of America’s most celebrated concert halls was an inspiring and transformative experience for our young musicians. During the tour, students participated in adjudicated performances, master classes, and collaborative learning sessions with other outstanding ensembles from across North America. These experiences allowed them not only to share their music on a world-class stage but also to listen, observe, and learn from peers and distinguished educators.
ICS received high praise from the adjudicators for the students’ refined sound, strong ensemble discipline, musical sensitivity, and impressive preparation. For many of our younger musicians, this was their first experience performing in a major international-level concert hall, making the journey especially meaningful.
Beyond the performance itself, the Chicago tour broadened our students’ artistic vision, strengthened their confidence, and deepened their understanding of what it means to perform with excellence, teamwork, and professionalism. It was a memorable chapter in the ICS journey and a powerful reminder of our mission: to provide young musicians with inspiring opportunities that help them grow both musically and personally.

2025 SCL Music Festival Trip
This dynamic youth orchestra took their dreams across oceans—to Vienna's golden-hued Golden Hall, where history hums in every vaulted note—building on the thunderous applause of their 2023 Carnegie Hall debut. In honor of Johann Strauss II, 200 years after the Waltz King's birth, they stood there not only as performers but also as America's voice. Amidst those gilded walls, to play his Blue Danube and Tales from the Vienna Woods was to engage with the past; to sense the maestro's presence in the tremor of their fingers and the weight of a legacy that extends from his quill to theirs.
Nevertheless, their hearts blossomed outside of the stages. They followed the name of Strauss on worn plaques in the cobblestone streets of Vienna, envisioning the candlelit evenings when he composed his waltzes. They heard stories in silent concert halls about musicians who endured adversity and poured their hearts into songs that lasted beyond empires. Each note turned into a mirror, reflecting the human pulse of joy, sorrow, and hope where they had previously heard precision and now heard grit.
This trip was more than just a tour. It was an induction into the eternal fabric of music, evidence that each note embodies the voices of the forerunners and the promise of the future.
